Cognitive Impairment
This is one I don’t like to think about… We are all getting older, and even those without Parkinson’s Disease can expect to experience some degree of cognitive decline as we age. With Parkinson’s Disease that decline can happen more quickly and can affect our ability to care for ourselves and live independently.
It seems that with the aging brain, it is very much “use it or lose it.” I don’t know if it is the chicken or the egg, but those who keep their minds active by working, or doing puzzles, interacting with others seem to stay cognitively sharp for longer. Or is it that those who stay sharp longer are able to keep working and push themselves, or perhaps a combination of both.
Are there any activities that you do to help keep your mind sharp?
