The easiest of them all and the last in this series!

To stay motivated for the long haul you have to schedule in some down time too. Professional athletes all have an off season where they give their bodies and minds a chance to recover and set goals for the next season. This way when it’s time to take on a new challenge you are rested and ready to give it your all.

I find it is easier, more fun and I end up in better shape if I take some time a few times a year, usually after a big race to recover so I am ready for the next round. If I just train all the time , it is too easy to get in a rut and make no real progress.

My friend Jana (who also has PD) and me the morning after Ironman Hawaii 2023.

My friend Jana and I starting the “Off Season” the morning after I finished Ironman Hawaii.

After an Ironman I take a good month where I don’t stop working out completely but scale it way back, before I start pushing it again.

I hope you found some of these tools helpful, and please reply if you have any thing else that helps you.
