Voice volume

One of the more noticeable motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease is decreased voice volume. This can become problematic over time, because it may contribute to social isolation. In addition, many of the same muscles and movements help us with swallowing.

Many Parkinson’s community programs offer Big and Loud classes or singing classes.

I have not been any of those classes yet. I do notice that when I am tired, my voice does trail off at the end of sentences. I will try sing loudly while riding the bike (indoors) or in my car on occasion, and that seems to help. Although I didn’t know my husband had come home while I was doing that, and he suggested singing lessons. I had my airpods in so I couldn’t hear how bad it was.
